itchy throat

main symptoms

headache and itchy throat. only the itchy feeling in her throat remained after catching a cold a week ago.
her head used to hurt when she was tired. also, her eyelids would twitch when she was very tired.
the quality of her sleep is also poor, and she sometimes wakes up in the middle of the night. since she works, she is very aware of the stiffness in her neck and shoulders.
she feels a little better when she lies down.

visual observation and palpation

the neck was generally swollen, and there was awareness in the cephalic semispinalis muscle stop and sternocleidomastoid muscle.

treatment

(1) head and semispinalis muscle (2) suboccipital muscle group (3) sternocleidomastoid muscle (4) scapular elevator muscle (5) trapezius muscle

1st to 3rd treatment: because of the swelling and stiffness around the neck, we used thin acupuncture needles (30mm, 0.14mm) for the first treatment to minimize the stress on the body.
4th treatment: the itchy feeling in her throat was relieved, but the stiffness in her neck and the twitching feeling in her eyelids remained.
the surface muscle stiffness has been removed, so i increased the acupuncture frequency to treat the deeper muscles.
5th to 7th treatment: neck feels stiff when tired from work, but headache and eyelid twitching have both disappeared.

Summary

the sternocleidomastoid muscle is called a treasure trove of trigger points and is easily prone to trigger point formation.
when trigger point forms in the sternocleidomastoid muscle, it can cause a variety of symptoms such as unexplained coughing, a feeling of tightness or itching in the throat, ringing in the ears, and a feeling of blockage, in addition to pain.
it is not widely recognized that a muscle can cause these symptoms. if you have been to the hospital and have not been able to find the cause of your symptoms, there is a good chance that your muscles are the cause.
