Sudden hearing loss, stiff shoulders, headaches, panic attacks

Main symptoms

About 3 months before her visit to our clinic, she suddenly lost her hearing.
At first, she went to a local hospital, and then was referred to a large hospital where she was hospitalized for a while.
During the hospitalization, she was given intravenous steroid drips, hyperbaric oxygen capsules, and other treatments.
At first her hearing was zero, but then she started to hear a little.
She also took medication.
However, the doctor told her that she could not expect any further improvement because her symptoms were fixed at about 2 when the one, she could hear was 10.
Originally, she had stiff shoulders and headache symptoms, and various kinds of complaints such as panic attacks.
She is also prone to depression, irritability, and stress.
She heard that acupuncture was good for her and came to our clinic after looking at our website.

Visual observation and palpation

Visual observation showed swelling in her neck. there was muscle swelling, especially in the lateral neck area.
Palpation showed muscle tension in the entire neck muscles.

Treatment

I chose thin acupuncture needles while refraining from strong stimulation and treated the points with weak stimulation exactly.

●Treatment areas: scalene muscles, sternocleidomastoid muscles, and levator scapulae muscles.
●1st to 3rd treatment: no change in hearing ability, but she felt less stressed.
●4th to 6th treatment: shoulder stiffness and headache become almost disappear.
●7th to 9th treatment: hearing got better little by little. the movement of the neck also improved. she used to have panic symptoms when she was under stress, but this has disappeared.

Summary

Splenius capitis, sternocleidomastoid muscles, and levator scapulae muscles

The splenius capitis and sternocleidomastoid muscles are attached to the mastoid bone, and when trigger points are formed in this area, ear symptoms may appear.
The levator scapulae muscle is a thin muscle and is difficult to control with acupuncture.
The sternocleidomastoid muscle is a treasure trove of trigger points, and there are many complaints and symptoms that can appear from trigger points in the sternocleidomastoid muscle.
The levator scapulae muscle is a muscle that attaches from the inner upper corner of the scapula to the 1st to 4th transverse processes of the cervical vertebrae and has a special structure that allows it to move in various ways. when trigger points are formed, stiff shoulders and dizziness appear, so if you have ear symptoms, it is best to treat them together.
